Because of the problem of overcrowding, property for rent is almost impossible to find in Bombay. However, the Lord evidently wanted Daya Vihar Orphanage to begin, because HE provided a place, and caused a series of miracles to happen to bring this about. Finding a two room kitchen, just a few minutes walk away from their house, was the first miracle. It was impossible to find anything without a broker (agent). After approaching many agents finally they found this room it was just vacated but there was several people to take the room. But john gave the token money on the spot when he saw the room, even when he was giving the token money some other people came for the same room for they wanted to start a coaching class for school going students. Under normal circumstances, the Landlord would not have allowed this lease, but this was the next miracle, the Lord has done it. By arranging money for the deposit the landlord was convinced that we would be able to pay the rent if we don’t pay the rent he will be free to take (deduct) the same from the deposit. With that guaranty he gave the room for the orphanage.

But soon after they brought the children in, the neighbours started troubling them and threatening them that they are Christians and evangelistic and will make to vacate the room. The whole locality is of strong religious fanatics and the orphanage is just in front of one of the fanatic organization branch but John had convinced them that they are for 11 months and find another place soon. John Chacko gave an official letter in the letter-head of the Trust [which they had formed earlier COMPASSION CHARITABLE TRUST] stating that the trust is registered under the charity commission and that the work they had under taken is as Trust and they need their co-operation in helping the most vulnerable children in this city. Finally they allowed staying. This another miracle for which we want Praise God.

John and Asha have gone to court and become the legal guardians eight children first now there are eleven more and total of 19 now, more will be taken in, as finances and space will allow. Fourteenth of this month they took admission for all the children in the school and all are going school now. All the children are very happy, and relieved of their tensions, and anxieties.

This breakthrough is only a beginning of what we hope and pray will become a source of blessing to many, many children. These lives hold the promise of unlimited potential, and the children’s eagerness to learn is a joy to see.
